DP World, a global leader in terminal operations, has partnered with the Gemini Cooperation, a collaboration between A.P. Moller-Maersk and Hapag-Lloyd, to enhance cargo operations across key Canadian ports. This strategic partnership aims to strengthen Canada’s role as a pivotal hub for global trade.

Expanding Port Operations

Starting February 2025, DP World will launch new container services at:

  • Port of Prince Rupert: North America’s closest port to Asia, serving as a vital transpacific trade link.
  • Port of Vancouver: A major gateway for goods moving between Asia and North America.
  • Port Saint John: Key to connecting Northern Europe with North America.

These services will improve cargo loading and discharge options, increasing efficiency and reliability for shippers navigating transpacific and transatlantic routes.

Commitment to Sustainability

DP World is actively addressing environmental priorities through its membership in the Green Marine program, which covers:

  • Air emissions and greenhouse gas reductions.
  • Spill prevention and waste management.
  • Enhanced community relations.

The addition of DP World’s Vancouver and Saint John terminals to the program underscores the company’s dedication to sustainable port operations.

Investments in Canadian Infrastructure

DP World continues to invest in Canadian port infrastructure:

  • In November 2024, two state-of-the-art cranes were added to the Port of Vancouver, capable of handling vessels with capacities exceeding 10,000 TEUs.
  • These investments aim to increase port efficiency and support Canada’s growing role in global logistics.

Advancing Decarbonization Goals

In 2024, DP World joined the Net Zero Supply Chain (NZSC) Initiative, which focuses on reducing carbon emissions across Canada’s freight transportation networks. This initiative aligns with global efforts to decarbonize supply chains and enhance urban freight efficiency.

Looking Ahead

The collaboration between DP World and Gemini Cooperation is set to bolster Canada’s logistics network, offering sustainable and efficient cargo solutions for global trade. By enhancing port infrastructure, launching new services, and prioritizing environmental initiatives, DP World continues to lead in shaping the future of logistics.
