Echo Global Logistics Expands Cross-Border Operations Amidst Flourishing Trade
Echo Global Logistics is broadening its footprint in Texas and Mexico, responding to the increasing trend of global companies relocating production closer to the US border to establish a manufacturing base near the United States.
Echo, headquartered in Chicago, has been orchestrating shipping solutions across the US-Mexico border for eight years. The expansion introduces Echo’s presence directly in Mexico for the first time, with new offices in Mexico City and Monterrey, alongside a new site in Laredo, Texas. The firm also welcomed Troy Ryley as the president of Echo Mexico, a seasoned logistics industry leader. Ryley mentioned Echo’s role in facilitating thousands of shipments to and from Mexico monthly, a figure expected to rise with the expansion.
Echo Global Logistics, established in 2005, serves as a worldwide provider of supply chain management services. With the addition of locations in Laredo, Monterrey, and Mexico City, Echo now operates 29 facilities across the US and Mexico, including sites in Houston and Dallas.
The growth of Echo parallels similar expansions in Texas or Mexico by logistics firms, highlighting Mexico’s pivotal role in the global supply chain. In 2023, Mexico became the top US trading partner, with trade amounting to $798 billion.
Ryley emphasized that Echo’s Mexican presence would simplify brokerage services for shippers and carriers dealing with customs and border complexities.
