The first near-complete Boeing 777-8 freighter has been spotted at Boeing’s Everett production facility, marking another visible step in the development of the new-generation cargo aircraft.
Photographer Matt Cawby shared an image of the 777-8F structure inside the Everett factory at Seattle Paine Field International Airport on 24 April.
The sighting comes around one month after assembly teams joined the aircraft’s mid-fuselage with its composite wings.
Boeing has also been working on outfitting the forward and aft fuselage sections with systems and wiring.
The manufacturer announced in July 2025 that it had produced the first spar for the 777-8F wing. The spar is the long structural beam that provides critical load-bearing support.
Production of the 777-8F began the same month.
The freighter was originally expected to enter the market in 2027, but Boeing announced in October 2024 that the launch would be delayed until 2028.
In December, Boeing was also reported to be seeking an emissions exemption from the US Department of Transportation to continue selling 777 freighters beyond the end of 2027, bridging the gap until the 777-8F becomes available.
Since its launch in 2022 with Qatar Airways as the launch customer, the 777-8F has secured 68 orders from customers worldwide.
