Hellmann Worldwide Logistics is expanding its presence in the United States with the opening of three new branches in Indianapolis, the Columbus metropolitan area and the San Francisco Bay Area. The additions bring the company’s US network to 12 locations and are intended to enhance its support for customers across the automotive, fashion, technology and other industries.
The move forms part of Hellmann’s Forward2030 strategy, which prioritises selected industries and markets offering strong growth potential. By establishing a closer presence in key commercial centres, the company aims to strengthen customer relationships and deliver logistics services tailored to the specific requirements of each sector.
Each of the three branches will focus on different market needs. The Indianapolis facility is already operational and will cater to tier 1 and tier 2 automotive suppliers. Its services will include international sea freight, air freight and domestic road transport.
In Ohio, the new Columbus office will concentrate on the fashion and retail industries. Meanwhile, the branch located near San Francisco International Airport will support businesses operating in technology, semiconductors, electronics, cloud infrastructure and renewable energy.
Together, the new facilities will reinforce Hellmann’s road, air and sea freight operations in strategically important US markets. The expansion comes against the backdrop of a substantial domestic logistics market: business logistics costs in the United States reached approximately $2.4 trillion in 2025, equivalent to around 7.8% of the country’s gross domestic product (GDP).
A broader strategy of specialised logistics investments
The US expansion follows Hellmann’s investment in dedicated logistics infrastructure in other international markets. In Dubai, the company has begun construction of a 28,000 sq m automotive logistics hub in Jebel Ali Free Zone (Jafza). The facility will handle automotive spare parts and support distribution throughout the Gulf Cooperation Council region and Africa, strengthening Hellmann’s automotive logistics capabilities in the Middle East.
Mario Stecher, Managing Director, US, at Hellmann Worldwide Logistics, highlighted the importance of the American market to the company’s international development plans.
“The United States plays a pivotal role in our global growth strategy. By opening new locations in strategically important markets, we are not only expanding our physical presence but also strengthening our ability to support customers with industry expertise and logistics solutions that are closer to where their business is growing,” he said.
Peter Hüwel, Regional CEO, Americas, at Hellmann Worldwide Logistics, also emphasised the role of the company’s US Accelerator Programme in supporting its regional expansion. The programme provides a framework for growth by bringing together Hellmann’s global network and knowledge of local markets.
