Hong Kong International Airport has once again been named the world’s busiest cargo airport, according to the latest figures released by Airports Council International (ACI).
The 2025 data shows that Hong Kong retained the number one position for the 15th time since 2010, underlining the airport’s continued importance in global air cargo flows.
Over the course of the year, Hong Kong handled more than 5m tonnes of cargo, with volumes rising by 2.7% compared with 2024.
Shanghai Pudong remained in second place, recording an 8.6% year-on-year increase in cargo volumes. Ted Stevens Anchorage International ranked third after posting a 4.2% gain and moving up one place from the previous year.
Louisville and Miami placed fourth and fifth respectively, both registering volume increases of more than 13%. By contrast, Memphis saw traffic fall by more than 20%.
ACI estimated that global air cargo volumes rose by 2.9% year on year in 2025 to nearly 128.9m metric tonnes.
The organisation also noted that cargo traffic remains highly concentrated among the largest airports. The top 10 cargo gateways alone accounted for close to 26% of global air cargo traffic.
According to ACI, the increase was driven by strong demand from e-commerce and continuing supply chain adjustments.
