In a move signaling renewed confidence in international trade, IAG Cargo has announced a sweeping expansion of its global operations through its Summer 2025 schedule, reinstating critical routes and ramping up capacity across key continents. As supply chains continue to recalibrate post-pandemic and amid rising geopolitical complexity, this strategic growth marks a timely and calculated push to cement IAG Cargo’s position in the airfreight landscape.

Restoring Global Links

At the heart of this expansion is the reintroduction of daily flights between Kuala Lumpur (KUL) and London Heathrow (LHR), beginning April 1st, operated by Boeing 787-9 aircraft. The move is emblematic of the growing cargo demand between Southeast Asia and Europe, particularly in sectors such as electronics, pharma, and perishables.

Meanwhile, the resumption of three-times-weekly connections from Madrid and Barcelona to San Francisco (SFO) strengthens transatlantic trade, offering Spanish exporters a direct route to one of the U.S.’s most active tech corridors.

North American Reinforcement

Complementing these changes, IAG Cargo is adding services to Denver from Dublin, and increasing capacity on major U.S. routes from London Heathrow, including Chicago, Vancouver, and Washington D.C. This expansion addresses consistent demand in pharmaceuticals, e-commerce, and automotive components—sectors reliant on predictable, time-sensitive deliveries.

Latin America and Asia-Pacific Push

In Latin America, Rio de Janeiro will see frequency boosts from four to six weekly flights out of Madrid. On the Asia-Pacific front, the carrier is doubling down with Doha (from seven to twelve weekly flights) and Tokyo Haneda (from ten to fourteen flights per week).

Camilo Garcia Cervera, Chief Sales and Marketing Officer at IAG Cargo, emphasized the global ambition of this schedule:

“Our summer 2025 network not only brings back routes our customers have long relied on, but also introduces new connections that reflect where trade is growing. It’s about linking the right markets at the right time—with consistency, speed, and efficiency.”

Sustained Global Footprint

IAG Cargo’s reach spans six continents, supported by hubs in London, Madrid, Dublin, and Barcelona. With an expanding wide-body network and reinforced charter capabilities, the company is aiming to facilitate seamless cargo movement across complex supply chains.

The Summer 2025 schedule isn’t just a seasonal reshuffling—it’s a declaration of strategic intent. By doubling down on high-demand regions and ensuring daily or near-daily frequencies, IAG Cargo is positioning itself as a pillar of resilience in the turbulent airfreight sector.

As geopolitical risks continue to reshape trade patterns, IAG Cargo’s enhanced connectivity arrives as a much-needed stabilizer for shippers and freight forwarders seeking reliability in an uncertain market.
