International Motors has appointed Sebastian Leger as senior vice president and chief procurement officer, bringing a two-decade career in automotive sourcing to the company’s global procurement operation.
Leger took up the position on April 1 and reports directly to International President and CEO Mathias Carlbaum. His remit covers the company’s worldwide procurement organization, including procurement strategy, supplier partnerships and coordination with International’s parent company, TRATON Group, according to the company’s March 10 announcement.
Carlbaum said Leger’s experience in commercial vehicle procurement, combined with his track record in cost optimization, supplier quality and strategic transformation, will contribute to strengthening International’s procurement capabilities worldwide. He added that the appointment comes as the company works to optimize the delivery of quality solutions to its customers.
Leger joins International after serving as senior vice president for strategy and procurement at MAN Truck & Bus, where he was responsible for strategic sourcing initiatives.
His career at MAN spanned more than 14 years and included several senior purchasing roles. He served as SVP for purchasing cabin, electronics and product cost optimization, as well as SVP for purchasing bus.
For Leger, the move marks an opportunity to play a direct role in International’s transformation while working across its global organization and supplier base.
He said he was honored to join International and looked forward to working closely with teams and suppliers around the world to build a high-performing and collaborative procurement organization focused on creating value for customers.
