LATAM Airlines Group has stepped in to support relief efforts in Venezuela after the recent earthquakes, putting together a humanitarian airlift to move both people and essential supplies into the country.
The airline is operating dedicated cargo flights carrying around 100 tonnes of humanitarian aid from international organisations. The shipments include everything needed for emergency response on the ground, such as field hospital equipment, clean water systems, generators, hospital beds, trauma supplies, protective gear, and other urgent medical items.
Alongside the cargo operation, LATAM also operated a special passenger flight from Bogotá to Caracas to transport more than 170 emergency responders at no cost. These include firefighters, doctors, rescue teams, and disaster specialists from across South America, all heading in to help with search-and-rescue and early recovery work.
The effort is being coordinated through LATAM’s Solidarity Plane programme, which is used when disasters strike in the region and allows the airline to move aid and emergency personnel quickly where they are needed most.
Overall, the operation shows how air cargo and passenger networks can be used together in crisis situations, helping get both supplies and specialist teams on the ground as fast as possible when every hour matters.
