Maritime digital solutions provider Marlink has signed a strategic partnership with vessel analytics company Metis in a move aimed at expanding shipowners’ access to advanced vessel data intelligence and AI-powered operational analytics.
Under the agreement, Marlink will act as a strategic integration partner for Metis’ vessel performance and operational data solutions, combining Metis’ onboard analytics and high-frequency data acquisition capabilities with Marlink’s global digital infrastructure, cyber-secure connectivity services and worldwide maritime support network.
The collaboration is designed to help shipping companies better capture, analyse and operationalise vessel data across a broad range of operational areas, including fuel consumption, emissions management, voyage optimisation, machinery monitoring and compliance reporting.
As shipping companies face growing pressure to improve operational efficiency while meeting stricter environmental regulations, the ability to transform raw vessel data into actionable insights is becoming increasingly important across the maritime sector.
Carlos Carbajal, chief product officer at Marlink, said the partnership aims to help operators make better use of the vast amount of operational data already available onboard vessels.
“Shipping companies are under increasing pressure to improve efficiency, reduce emissions and make better decisions from the data already available onboard their vessels,” Carbajal explained.
“Through this partnership with Metis, we are helping customers convert that data into practical operational value.”
Metis chief executive Panos Theodossopoulos said the agreement will provide customers with greater flexibility and access to more advanced telemetry and analytics capabilities designed to support data-driven fleet management strategies.
“Customers will benefit from greater flexibility, stronger integration and access to advanced telemetry and analytics capabilities designed to support more efficient, data-driven fleet operations,” he said.
The companies also revealed plans for deeper technical integration between Metis’ AI-powered analytics tools and Marlink’s XChange NextGen edge platform, further strengthening onboard data processing and operational intelligence capabilities.
The partnership reflects a wider trend across global shipping, where digitalisation, artificial intelligence and predictive analytics are increasingly becoming central to fleet optimisation, emissions reduction and regulatory compliance strategies.
As operators continue investing in connected vessel ecosystems, integrated partnerships between connectivity providers and analytics specialists are expected to play a growing role in helping shipowners improve efficiency, reduce costs and strengthen operational decision-making across increasingly data-intensive fleet environments.
