In Singapore, PSA and Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) are taking a new step in automotive logistics with the creation of a joint venture dedicated to operating a ro-ro terminal. The objective is clear: to secure terminal capacity at a major Southeast Asian hub and improve the operational performance of ro-ro flows, particularly for vehicle transshipment.
The start of operations is announced for the first half of the year, subject to regulatory approvals. If the partners remain discreet about the exact size of the terminal and its capacities, the signal is strong: the battle is no longer just about the ships, but also about smooth access to infrastructure and the reliability of the “last port mile.”
Beyond pure exploitation, PSA and MOL want to push cooperation on three pillars: optimization of operations, digital innovation, and sustainability. An approach that aims to better connect the automotive value chain, while reducing frictions (waiting, congestion, lack of capacity) that are costly for both shipowners and shippers.
