Unilode and SATCO have expanded their strategic partnership with the opening of a new maintenance and repair facility at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and a new long-term agreement covering the supply of ULD-related products.

The LAX site represents a joint investment by the two companies in the Americas. Under the arrangement, Unilode will provide on-site ULD maintenance and repair services in support of SATCO’s installed equipment base in the region.

The facility is expected to strengthen support for airline customers while extending Unilode’s maintenance footprint in the Americas and replicating the service model it already operates through its global MRO network.

As part of the wider partnership, Unilode has also decided to begin sourcing ULD-related products, including cargo nets, from SATCO under a longer-term agreement. The move reflects Unilode’s focus on supply chain resilience, product performance and strategic supplier relationships.

Janis Balkens, chief operations officer of Unilode, said the LAX facility and the integration of SATCO nets into Unilode’s network represent an important step forward in the relationship, while also strengthening the company’s supply chain and supporting customers worldwide.

Michael Howell, senior vice president of operations at SATCO, said the two companies share a long-term approach built on trust, quality and common values, and described the expanded relationship as a reflection of a joint commitment to supporting the global air cargo industry with reliable, safety-focused products.

SATCO’s portfolio includes fire-resistant ULDs and fire containment covers, which remain important as the sector continues to focus on safety and resilience.

Unilode said it sees the expanded partnership as a long-term collaboration that will generate practical benefits for airlines and cargo operators across its global network.
