Pacific International Lines (PIL), the Singapore-headquartered shipping company, has expanded its Latin American operations with the opening of its ninth wholly owned agency in the region, establishing a new presence in Colombia.

The launch of PIL – Colombia took place in Bogotá during the second week of October, bringing together the company’s local team, customers, suppliers and officials to mark the opening. The move forms part of PIL’s broader strategy to strengthen its worldwide network of wholly owned agencies.

Through its new Colombian office, the shipping line aims to further improve customer service and reinforce its customer-focused approach. The company also sees considerable potential in the Colombian market, identifying Cali, Medellín, Bogotá and Buenaventura among the country’s most dynamic cities.

The latest opening follows PIL’s continued expansion across Latin America. The company recently established a new agency in Peru, adding to its presence in Brazil, Uruguay, Guatemala, Argentina and Chile, where agencies have also been opened in recent times.

Commenting on the team’s efforts, Nicolas Romero, PIL’s manager for Latin America, congratulated those involved in delivering the project on schedule despite the challenges posed by the major earthquake that struck the country last August.

“Congratulations to the whole team, who managed to meet the deadlines despite the terrible earthquake that struck the country last August,” Romero said.
