GOLLOG and Avianca have joined forces to support emergency relief efforts in Colombia by transporting over 150 tons of humanitarian aid to communities affected by a recent earthquake.
Avianca mobilised both its cargo and passenger operations as part of the response, moving essential supplies within just two days. The operation was coordinated with the Presidency of Colombia, along with two charter flights organised in cooperation with the Presidency of El Salvador and additional Avianca services.
GOLLOG contributed a Boeing 737 freighter operating from São Paulo. The aircraft was selected because it was compatible with the operating conditions at El Edén International Airport in Armenia, where it also made the first landing by a cargo aircraft of this model.
The relief shipments included a wide range of essential items, including food, drinking water, medicines, medical supplies, diapers, mats and infant formula. The supplies are intended to assist families and communities dealing with the aftermath of the earthquake.
By combining GOLLOG’s dedicated freighter capacity with Avianca’s broader air transport network, the partners were able to accelerate the movement of relief supplies to affected areas.
Both companies said they will continue working with government authorities and other organisations to support humanitarian operations and deliver additional essential goods where needed.
The operation highlights the importance of coordinated air cargo capacity during emergencies, when reliable transport links are critical to moving essential supplies quickly to communities in need.
