Royal Air Maroc Cargo has been named “Airline of the Year – Africa” at the 2026 World Air Cargo Awards, a recognition that reflects how far the carrier has come in strengthening its position in the air freight sector.
Behind the award, there’s a simple idea: Casablanca is becoming harder to ignore on the global cargo map.
Over the past few years, the airline has steadily built up its network and improved reliability, with a focus on one priority — making it easier for African goods to reach international markets without unnecessary friction.
Casablanca plays a big part in that story. Its location naturally places it between Europe, Africa, the Americas and Asia, and Royal Air Maroc Cargo has been leaning into that advantage to position the city as a genuine transit point for global trade.
The airline’s activity also has a very direct impact on the real economy. It supports exporters in sectors like agriculture, pharmaceuticals, aerospace, textiles and artisanal products — industries that depend heavily on fast and reliable air transport to stay competitive abroad.
The recent launch of the Casablanca–Los Angeles route in June 2026 adds another layer to that growth. It opens a new corridor between Africa and the West Coast of the United States, widening opportunities for both cargo and trade flows.
For Royal Air Maroc Cargo, this award is less a finish line than a confirmation that its strategy is working: build stronger connections, improve service quality, and give African exports better access to the world.
And more broadly, it reflects something bigger happening in the background — African logistics and air cargo networks are no longer just participating in global trade, they’re starting to shape it in their own right.
