Seacon and China Marine Bunker (CHIMBUSCO) have formalised a long-term strategic cooperation agreement aimed at supporting the green and low-carbon transformation of the shipping industry.
The two companies said the partnership is designed to combine their respective strengths in order to promote both sustainable development and higher-quality growth across global shipping.
Under the agreement, they will work together across several areas, including marine fuel coordination, the transportation and bunkering development of the green fuel industrial chain, professional talent training, technological innovation, safety management, green transition, and international market expansion.
The collaboration is intended to support the upgrade of the full fuel supply chain — from transportation and storage to bunkering and final application — with the aim of delivering solutions that are safer, more efficient and more reliable.
Seacon said the agreement represents an important step for both companies in aligning with China’s wider national strategy on green and low-carbon development, as well as with the regulatory direction set by maritime authorities.
The company added that the cooperation offers practical support and a clearer pathway for advancing the green transformation of China’s shipping sector.
The announcement comes shortly after China’s Maritime Safety Administration, under the Ministry of Transport, issued its Guiding Opinions on Promoting the Green and Low-Carbon Transformation of Shipping.
That document sets a target for 2030 to fully establish a complete system covering technical standards, safety supervision, seafarer training, and green fuel bunkering standards for vessels powered by new and clean energy sources.
