Swissport has signed a share purchase agreement to acquire a majority stake in CV Handling, the main ground handling provider across seven airports in Cabo Verde.
The transaction follows a competitive privatization process led by the Cabo Verdean government, during which Swissport was selected as the preferred bidder among international aviation service providers.
The acquisition strengthens Swissport’s presence in Africa, where the company already operates 30 stations in six countries, including Algeria, Morocco, Ghana, Kenya, Tanzania, and South Africa.
As part of the deal, CV Handling will gain access to Swissport’s global operating standards, digital solutions, and international network. Swissport plans to invest in infrastructure, operational improvements, digital tools, and training facilities.
The company will also bring expertise in ground handling, air cargo, airport lounges, and fueling operations to raise service levels across Cabo Verde’s airports. Sal and Praia are expected to benefit in particular as they continue developing their roles as regional aviation hubs.
Swissport said the acquisition supports its wider strategy to grow across ground handling, air cargo, and aviation hospitality through organic expansion and strategic mergers and acquisitions.
The closing of the transaction remains subject to customary conditions, including regulatory approvals.
