Danish product tanker operator Torm is pushing ahead with its fleet expansion strategy, securing six additional MR tanker resales as part of a broader wave of acquisitions and renewals across its fleet.

The Copenhagen- and New York-listed company confirmed that the newly agreed vessels will be delivered between 2027 and 2028. Two tankers are expected in the first quarter of 2027, followed by another pair later that year, and the final two deliveries scheduled for 2028.

While the seller behind the transaction has not been officially disclosed, market sources in the sale-and purchase segment indicate that the vessels are linked to MR newbuildings originally ordered by Singapore-listed Yangzijiang Maritime at Chinese shipyards.

This latest move adds to a particularly active period for Torm, which has remained one of the most aggressive consolidators in the listed product tanker space.

In the first quarter of 2026 alone, the company took delivery of two LR2 tankers built in 2016 and one MR tanker built in 2018, which have been renamed Torm Helga, Torm Hedwig, and Torm Fortune. At the same time, it sold the 2008-built LR2 tanker TORM Maren as part of its ongoing fleet renewal program.

Torm has also agreed to acquire two additional MR tankers built in 2015, expected for delivery in the second quarter of the year. These vessels will enter the fleet under the names Torm Dehradun and Torm Dapitan.

Once all current transactions are completed, the company’s fleet will expand to 103 vessels, up from 95 at the end of the first quarter. This total includes two ships operating under sale-and leaseback agreements with repurchase options, reflecting the group’s continued use of flexible financing structures alongside fleet growth.
