Tractor Supply has expanded its distribution network with the opening of a new 865,000-square-foot facility in Nampa, Idaho, marking the retailer’s 11th distribution center in the United States.
The company announced the opening in a September 23 news release. The facility began receiving inventory in August and is scheduled to start outbound shipments this month.
During its first year of operation, the Nampa distribution center will supply 123 Tractor Supply stores across nine states. Its capacity can eventually be expanded to support more than 200 stores once the site reaches full operational capability.
The project represents an investment of more than $200 million and includes 80 truck docks, while additional land has been reserved to allow for future expansion. Tractor Supply expects the facility to create approximately 500 full-time jobs.
The new site will also have its own AI innovation team, tasked with what the company describes as the application of “practical artificial intelligence to operational needs.”
Automation built into the distribution center
Tractor Supply says the Nampa operation is intended to establish a new benchmark for the way products move through its supply chain.
“This new distribution center sets a new standard for how products move through our supply chain,” said Craig Ledbetter, Tractor Supply’s chief supply chain officer.
The facility is also the first Tractor Supply distribution location to deploy an automated storage and retrieval system supplied by logistics automation specialist Knapp.
According to the company, the automated architecture is integrated throughout the distribution center. It combines automatic conveying systems designed to store, sequence and move merchandise in a safer and more efficient manner.
Nampa adds distribution capacity in the Northwest
The expansion is significant for Tractor Supply because its distribution centers are central to the way merchandise reaches its retail network.
In fiscal 2025, approximately 81% of the merchandise received by Tractor Supply stores came through the company’s distribution facility network. The remainder was delivered directly by vendors to stores or customers, according to a securities filing.
The company said the positioning of its distribution facilities is designed to minimize logistics costs while optimizing the distance between distribution centers and individual stores.
The Nampa facility gives Tractor Supply a stronger physical distribution presence in the Northwest U.S., improving its ability to serve stores in the surrounding region.
As of December 27, 2025, the retailer operated 70 stores across Idaho, Oregon, Nevada and Washington.
Supporting Tractor Supply’s store expansion
The new distribution center is also being positioned to support the retailer’s continued store growth and its increasing customer base.
“As more people look to embrace the ‘Out Here Lifestyle’ and we continue to open new stores, this distribution center will be vital to get our customers the products they want and need,” Ledbetter said.
Tractor Supply opened 28 new stores during the second quarter of 2026, adding further pressure for distribution capacity as the retailer expands its physical footprint.

The Nampa operation therefore combines several elements of Tractor Supply’s expansion strategy: greater regional coverage, additional distribution capacity, warehouse automation and a dedicated team exploring practical AI applications within logistics operations.
