Wallenius Wilhelmsen officially takes over the auto & ro-ro terminal in Gothenburg, renamed, via a 12-year contract. The operator succeeds the former operator and announces an investment program to modernize the terminal areas, buildings, and infrastructure.
The challenge goes beyond simple handover: Gothenburg is a crucial point for vehicle and ro-ro flows in Scandinavia. However, recent indicators show a contrast: ro-ro is progressing slightly while the “cars” segment is declining, due to the decrease in exports and commercial factors (including tariff frictions in certain markets). The mission of the new operator is clearly to get the machine back in motion in the most exposed segment.
For industrial supply chains, the benefit is immediate: a high-performing ro-ro terminal means capacity, fluidity, and fewer uncertainties on sensitive flows (automotive, industrial equipment, projects). The battle will be won on execution: productivity, reliability, customer services, and integration into the operator’s global network.
