Aircargo Services Hannover has appointed aviation consultancy aeroconcept to review and refine its safety processes as part of a broader push to expand its role in the European air cargo market.
The agreement was signed during the IATA World Cargo Symposium in Lima, Peru, and will see aeroconcept carry out a full assessment of the cargo handler’s existing Safety Management System. The aim is to ensure that the current framework remains aligned with both regulatory expectations and the company’s future operational ambitions.
The project is designed to reinforce safety, resilience and risk management across all cargo handling activities at Hannover Airport. It will be led by Moritz Hampel, a consultant at aeroconcept with experience in safety management, regulatory compliance and air cargo operations.
According to aeroconcept general manager James Wyatt, the work comes at a time when airports and cargo operators across Europe are being forced to adapt to evolving rules and operational requirements. He said robust safety systems remain fundamental to secure, compliant and efficient air cargo activity, adding that the Hannover project reflects the consultancy’s broader commitment to strengthening safety performance across the industry.
For Aircargo Services Hannover, the review comes at a strategically important moment. Florian Schulte, vice president of operations, said the company is entering a new phase of development and wants to ensure it is fully prepared for the coming years of cargo growth at Hannover Airport.
The cargo handler currently works with more than 20 airlines and several logistics partners. In 2025, it processed 103,000 tonnes of air cargo. While that volume still places Hannover among Europe’s secondary cargo airports, the site offers several advantages, including 24/7 operating flexibility, space for additional customer activity and available front-line warehouse capacity.
Schulte said the goal is not only to improve safety systems, but also to become more efficient and better positioned to take the next step in the German cargo market.
