Lufthansa Cargo is deepening the digital integration of its add-on service portfolio, giving customers a more seamless way to tailor shipments during the online booking process.
The airline said the move is part of its broader effort to strengthen a modular product model in which customers first choose a core product and speed level before adding optional services depending on the route and shipment requirements.
Under the updated process, all available add-on services for the selected product, speed and routing are displayed at the end of the booking flow, together with transparent pricing. Customers can then include them with only a few clicks. Lufthansa Cargo said the integration of two services, toDoor and Insurance, is still underway.
The carrier currently offers five add-ons.
Sustainable Choice allows customers to support the use of sustainable aviation fuel and certified climate protection projects linked to the CO₂ emissions of their shipment.
Personal Supervision is designed for irreplaceable art shipments, enabling representatives of art logistics specialists or curators to accompany valuable works during ground handling. This service is currently available in Frankfurt and Munich.
smartULD provides continuous temperature and data monitoring for sensitive goods and is available with the Active Temp Control product.
toDoor offers direct delivery to the consignee’s bonded warehouse through Lufthansa Cargo’s Road Feeder Service.
Insurance provides a door-to-door cargo insurance solution beyond standard liability coverage, in partnership with Delvag, and is available across all products.
Lufthansa Cargo said these services respond to frequent customer needs throughout the transport chain and provide greater flexibility in designing shipment-specific logistics solutions. The company also said further add-ons are already in development, suggesting that the modular approach will continue to expand as part of its digital customer journey strategy.
