Lufthansa Cargo is reinforcing its global network with an expanded summer schedule, adding freighter capacity across the transpacific and reintroducing dedicated services to India.

The Frankfurt-based carrier has increased its Ho Chi Minh–Shanghai–Los Angeles route to two weekly flights, strengthening its presence on a key Asia–US corridor.

From May, Delhi will return to the freighter network with a weekly connection, bringing total weekly links to the Indian market to six when combined with existing belly capacity and other services.

The airline already serves Chennai, Hyderabad and Mumbai, underscoring the strategic importance of India within its network.

Across Asia, Lufthansa Cargo now operates up to 48 weekly connections to 17 destinations, reflecting the region’s growing economic weight in global trade.

In the Americas, the carrier is adding an extra frequency to Toronto, bringing total weekly connections to 33 across 15 destinations in North and South America.

European short- and medium-haul operations are also expanding. Airbus A321 freighters have recently added routes to Rome and Algiers, while Zurich is expected to become the group’s sixth cargo hub in the near future.

Chief executive Ashwin Bhat highlighted the strength of Lufthansa Cargo’s European network, supported by six hubs and integrated belly capacity across group airlines.

This includes Lufthansa Airlines, Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, ITA Airways, Discover Airlines and SunExpress, all contributing to a dense and flexible cargo network.

Long-haul belly capacity is also being expanded, with new or increased passenger routes supporting cargo flows to destinations such as Nairobi, Rio de Janeiro, Cape Town and St. Louis.
