YunExpress has reached a key milestone in its UK expansion strategy after receiving approval to operate as a self-handling cargo airline at East Midlands Airport (EMA).
The designation follows the company’s recognition as a Regulated Agent, combined with ITSF approval from relevant authorities, granting YunExpress full operational capability at one of the UK’s leading cargo hubs.
With final preparations now underway, the launch of the EMA hub is described as imminent, marking a significant step in strengthening the company’s presence in the British airfreight sector.
Paul Newton, Cargo Handling and Security Manager for UK Hubs at YunExpress, highlighted the scale of the achievement, emphasizing the months of preparation and coordination required to reach this stage.
“This is a significant moment for us,” he said. “Our team has worked tirelessly to bring this vision to life, and we are now ready to move operations forward.”
The self-handling status allows YunExpress to manage its own cargo operations directly, improving efficiency, control, and service quality—while positioning the company to capture growing demand in the UK e-commerce and air cargo markets.
