Cathay Cargo has enhanced its online booking capabilities, giving freight forwarders the ability to modify cargo reservations directly through its digital platform.

With the latest upgrade to its Manage Booking system, customers can now make changes after a booking has been confirmed without having to rely on phone calls, manual handling or waiting for support during office hours. Cathay said the move addresses a long-standing challenge for the air cargo industry by giving forwarders faster and more direct control over their bookings.

The changes that can now be handled online include updates to shipper and consignee details, flight and date changes, and modifications to shipment size. More complex cases will still be handled by Cathay Cargo specialists, ensuring that customers continue to receive support when needed.

The airline described the launch as another important step in its customer-focused digitalisation strategy, with improvements designed specifically around freight forwarder workflows.

Users can also track bookings from all booking channels through a single real-time dashboard. Before confirming a change, they can see exactly how the adjustment will affect booking status and any related costs. The platform also includes activity tracking and automated notifications, giving customers a full audit trail of changes along with email alerts.

Dominic Perret, director of cargo at Cathay, said the airline is committed to putting customers at the centre of innovation as the air cargo market evolves. He said digital tools such as Manage Booking are intended to make it easier for freight forwarders to work with the carrier while giving them the transparency and control they need.

Cathay Cargo has been steadily expanding its digital offering in recent years. In 2025, the airline introduced real-time customs clearance updates for customers connected through ONE Record API links or using its EzyCargo platform. Cathay said it was the first carrier to offer real-time clearance visibility, including updates from customs authorities in Europe under ICS2, as well as the US, Canada and the UAE.
