Cainiao has announced Global 3-Day Delivery, a new cross-border logistics solution aiming to deliver parcels to customers within three calendar days through 15 international trade routes. The service comprises major routes between China and Europe, points within Europe and selected routes via the Middle East, reflecting the company’s continuing investment in faster, more efficient global e-commerce logistics.
Initial routes to be rolled out are Hong Kong–United Kingdom, Hong Kong–Netherlands, Germany–France, Germany–Netherlands, Germany–Luxembourg and Saudi Arabia–United Arab Emirates.
This new service is in line with Cainiao’s goal to offer premium delivery speeds to a wider audience by delivering in 72 hours door-to-door at nearly half the price of traditional international express services. The solution gives merchants a faster, more cost effective way to fulfill cross border orders and improves the overall shopping experience for consumers.
As the global e-commerce landscape evolves, delivery speed is becoming an increasingly important competitive factor alongside price. Quicker shipping means less inventory pressure, better cash flow and smaller more frequent replenishment cycles for merchants. Shorter transit times allow consumers to reconcile the gap between international purchases and the fast delivery standards that are now the norm in domestic e-commerce markets.
“Cross-border e-commerce is moving from a stage where product access was enough to a stage where the full customer experience determines competitiveness,” said Xiong Wei, senior vice president of Cainiao Group, adding that cross-border e-commerce is entering a new phase where customer experience is the core of market competitiveness. Delivery speed is no longer just a fulfillment metric. It is now a major factor in consumer choice, merchant working capital and the nature of competition. “Bringing 72 hour door-to-door delivery within an affordable everyday reach for more sellers is a paradigm shift for cross-border trade.
The service is backed by the Cainiao integrated global logistics network that integrates air freight, ground transportation and customs operations into one end-to-end fulfillment system. On the China – United Kingdom route, for example, parcels ordered in the evening can be packed the next morning at a logistics hub, loaded onto a flight the same day and delivered shortly after arrival.
To do this, Cainiao has a global logistics network that includes about 170 chartered flights and block space agreements (BSAs) each week, over 2,300 trucking routes and its Hong Kong eHub which enables shipments to move directly from warehouses to aircraft with minimal handling time.
The Global 3-Day Delivery is the latest addition to Cainiao’s suite of international logistics offerings, following the launch of Global 10-Day Delivery and Global 5-Day Delivery. The company said the new service would be rolled out gradually to more international markets as its global logistics network continues to grow.
