Eastern Pacific Shipping (EPS) has delivered the RS Atlantico to European logistics group Suardiaz, the first newbuilding to be chartered between the two companies as their automotive logistics partnership continues to grow.
The 5,500 CEU Pure Car and Truck Carrier (PCTC) is built at China’s Xiamen Shipyard with LNG dual-fuel propulsion. This vessel is the first of its class and also EPS’s first mid-sized PCTC newbuilding to be built at the Fujian Chuanzheng facility.
For EPS, the delivery is a sign of the strengthening commercial relationship with Suardiaz. Commercial director, containers/PCTC, at Eastern Pacific Shipping, Thomas Preben Hansen said the partnership is building on the basis of mutual trust and shared ambitions.
“The RS Atlantico is an important step in the fleet renewal strategy of Suardiaz Shipping Lines,” said Marcos Duato, Director of Suardiaz Shipping Lines, on the Suardiaz side. The ship’s LNG propulsion is a way to meet customer needs while also contributing to the group’s wider sustainability goals, he said.
Suardiaz is adding RS Atlantico to further extend its automotive transport capabilities across its European network. The two companies also are eager to deepen their cooperation and explore further growth in the automotive transport business.
