Asia Airfreight Terminal (AAT), a subsidiary of SATS Ltd and affiliate of Eastern Option Ltd, has renewed a 15-year franchise agreement with Airport Authority Hong Kong (AAHK) to continue its operations at Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) from 2028 to 2043.
The deal also reflects AAT’s ongoing commitment to the air cargo industry in Hong Kong at a time of significance for the city’s aviation sector. The airport is enhancing its status as a leading international aviation hub with the full commissioning of HKIA’s Three-Runway System and enhanced multimodal connectivity across the Greater Bay Area.
The extension of the franchise will allow AAT to continue to support the airport’s development, while helping to grow Hong Kong’s airfreight infrastructure. The company has reaffirmed its commitment to deliver innovative, reliable and efficient services, while creating long-term value for the industry and the communities in which it operates.
AAT will continue to invest in infrastructure, technology and operational capabilities as part of its long term development strategy. One of the key objectives is to expand its cargo handling capability to 2 million tons to meet the evolving needs of Hong Kong’s air cargo industry.
“We are proud to extend our long-standing partnership with Airport Authority Hong Kong. “We will continue to invest in infrastructure, technology and operational capabilities to drive the long-term development of Hong Kong’s air cargo industry, including growing our cargo handling capacity to 2 million tons, building on nearly three decades of experience at HKIA,” said Mike Chew, Chief Executive Officer of AAT.
The renewal ensures operation of AAT until 2043, and emphasizes the need for continuous investment in cargo handling capacity as Hong Kong upgrades its aviation infrastructure and regional transport links.
