Philippine Airlines (PAL) is speeding up the modernization of its cargo business by choosing IBS Software’s iCargo platform, a cloud-based solution that will replace the airline’s current cargo management system and support its wider digital transformation strategy.
The deal will see iCargo rolled out across PAL’s domestic and international cargo operations, combining cargo sales, ground handling activities and accounting into one environment. “The initiative is designed to support the airline’s evolving operational needs as well as to deliver a more robust technological platform to support future growth.
IBS Software will be part of PAL’s wider cargo modernization program, providing capabilities across commercial activities, operational processes and back office accounting. The integrated platform will also open up opportunities for further innovation and digitization across the airline’s cargo business.
The implementation will address the different requirements associated with PAL’s network, including international customs reporting, the settlement of duties and taxes and regulatory compliance. Airlines with similar operational requirements are already using iCargo, to address the flexibility and scalability needed to manage cargo operations in both international and domestic markets.
One of the key goals of the transition is to solve the operational issues regarding system performance and data analytics. The new platform is expected to accelerate shipment processing, increase system reliability and improve end-to-end visibility across the cargo journey. The solution will also bring efficiencies across the operation, by reducing manual intervention and streamlining workflows.
These improvements are designed to extend beyond internal processes. With better shipment tracking, more reliable services and an improved customer experience, PAL Cargo will support the airline’s “Care that Delivers” promise. With volumes continuing to grow across its network, the platform is expected to deliver the digital infrastructure needed to sustain operational excellence, enable further innovation and support long-term business growth.
IBS Software was selected following an evaluation process where key factors included its technological capabilities and experience in delivery of cargo transformation projects for airlines around the world. The agreement also extends an existing relationship between both companies, expanding the range of IBS Software solutions being deployed by Philippine Airlines and reinforcing their mutual commitment to innovation and sustainable business growth.
“This is an important milestone in our cargo modernization initiatives,” said Jason Siy, Vise President for Cargo Business at Philippine Airlines.
“As we continue to grow our domestic and global network, we need a system that gives us better visibility, improves our operational efficiency and enables us to deliver a better experience for our customers,” Siy said. iCargo is also a key enabler for the airline’s long-term cargo transformation strategy and its ambition to build a stronger cargo business for the future, he added.
“We are proud to back PAL’s ambitions for their cargo operations,” said Sunil George, Vise President and Region Head, Oceania, IBS Software. He emphasized that the partnership is not only about implementing a new technology platform, but about building the digital foundations for future growth, innovation and operational excellence.
George also underlined the significance of the historical relationship between the two organizations, calling the agreement an opportunity to build on a partnership that is important to both companies.
“With this implementation, Philippine Airlines aims to give its cargo division an integrated and scalable operating environment that will allow the business to respond to increasing volumes, changing customer expectations and the needs of its international network.
