Deendayal Port Authority (DPA) in Kandla has set a remarkable benchmark by handling an unprecedented 105,307 metric tons (MT) of U.S. coal in a single vessel operation. This achievement underscores DPA’s operational efficiency and its position as a leading maritime hub in India.

Key Highlights of the Achievement

  1. Vessel Operation Details:
    • Vessel Name: M.V. CSSC IMMINGHAM.
    • Cargo: 105,307 MT of U.S. coal.
    • Berthing: The vessel berthed at Cargo Jetty-09 on December 22, 2024, after lightering 6,000 MT of cargo midstream.
  2. Operational Excellence:
    • The port deployed six Harbour Mobile Cranes (HMCs), a floating crane, 12 excavators, and 60 dumpers.
    • Achieved a record productivity rate of 77,817 MT per day, discharging 65,114 MT of cargo within 20.25 hours.
  3. Voyage Information:
    • The vessel carried a total of 111,307 MT of coal, shipped by Consol Pennsylvania Coal Company LLC.
    • Destination: The consignment was intended for UltraTech Cement Ltd.
    • Voyage duration: The vessel completed a 46-day journey from Baltimore, USA.
  4. Collaboration with Stakeholders:
    • Steamer agency services were managed by M/s James Mackintosh.
    • Stevedoring was executed by Rishi Shipping (India) Pvt. Ltd.
