February 26, 2025 – Hermes Fulfilment, a key logistics subsidiary of the Otto Group, is expanding its global network with strategic developments in Poland, reinforcing its European logistics capabilities and streamlining supply chain processes.
Strengthening European Logistics Operations
As part of its ongoing growth strategy, Hermes Fulfilment has taken over bonprix’s returns operations in Łódź, Poland, positioning the facility as a major hub for efficient returns processing. This move aims to improve logistics performance and enhance service efficiency across the European market.
In addition to the Łódź operations, Hermes Fulfilment is also set to launch a new distribution center in Iłowa, Poland, expected to be fully operational by fall 2024. The facility will feature nine halls spanning 118,000 square meters, providing logistics support for Otto Group’s operations in Germany. The Iłowa center is anticipated to create up to 1,900 jobs, further strengthening regional supply chain capacity.
Investing in Automation and Innovation
Hermes Fulfilment is embracing cutting-edge logistics technologies to optimize warehouse operations. The company has partnered with Boston Dynamics and Covariant to integrate robotics and artificial intelligence (AI) into its processes. Among the key innovations:
- “Spot” mobile robots deployed at the Haldensleben facility in Germany for warehouse inspection and maintenance.
- “Stretch” robots automating container and swap body unloading, reducing manual labor and processing times.
- AI-driven picking robots to enhance speed and efficiency in order fulfillment.
These advancements align with Hermes Fulfilment’s goal of achieving a smarter, more resilient, and sustainable logistics network.
