Air India Cargo is taking another major step in its digital transformation after partnering with cargo.one, allowing freight forwarders to book its cargo capacity online through the platform for the first time.
The agreement gives logistics companies around the world the ability to search, compare rates and confirm bookings in just a few clicks, removing much of the manual work traditionally involved in securing cargo space.
For Air India Cargo, the move is part of a much bigger transformation that has been reshaping the airline over the past few years. Alongside a massive fleet renewal programme—including an order for 600 new aircraft—the carrier is also investing heavily in digital tools designed to make doing business easier for customers.
Its cargo division serves key trade lanes across South Asia and international markets through its major hubs in Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru. By integrating with cargo.one, the airline expects its capacity to become far more visible and accessible to freight forwarders in every major cargo market.
Ramesh Mamidala, Head of Cargo at Air India Cargo, said the partnership reflects the airline’s commitment to modernising the customer experience.
“Digitalisation is a key part of our transformation journey,” he said. “By joining cargo.one, we’re making it much easier for freight forwarders around the world to access our network. Customers will be able to book faster, work more efficiently and benefit from a much smoother experience, while we continue expanding our global commercial reach.”
The partnership also represents another milestone for cargo.one, which continues to grow its portfolio of airline partners as digital booking becomes increasingly important across the air cargo industry.
According to Moritz Claussen, Founder and Co-CEO of cargo.one, freight forwarders are increasingly relying on intelligent digital tools to manage quoting and procurement, making direct airline integration more valuable than ever.
“We’re delighted to welcome Air India Cargo to the platform,” Claussen said. “As forwarders adopt AI-powered workflows and automate more of their booking process, airlines need to be part of those digital ecosystems. This partnership ensures Air India Cargo is exactly where customers expect to find and book capacity.”
From today, freight forwarders using cargo.one can instantly book general cargo shipments of up to 2,500 kilograms on Air India’s international network, including services linking India with major cargo gateways such as Frankfurt, Amsterdam, Zurich, New York, San Francisco and Tokyo.
Beyond simplifying bookings, the partnership is expected to help Air India Cargo expand its international sales footprint, improve market visibility and support the next phase of its long-term growth strategy.
