BARIG is putting more attention on air cargo as the sector becomes more complex and harder to manage.
The association says it is strengthening cooperation with partners in Germany and internationally, especially through its Air Cargo Committee and work with the Air Cargo Community Frankfurt (ACCF).
At the latest ACCF general meeting, Michael Hoppe, BARIG Chairman and Executive Director, was re-elected to the Executive Board in the airline segment. He has been active in the Frankfurt cargo community for years and is also one of its founding members.
BARIG says the air cargo industry is under pressure from geopolitical tensions, stricter regulations and ongoing supply chain problems. Because of this, it believes airlines and other stakeholders need to work more closely together.
The association’s Air Cargo Committee brings together cargo experts from member airlines, including co-chairs Jorge Carretero (LATAM Cargo) and Thilo Schäfer (Condor Cargo). They focus on practical topics like improving digital systems, making operations smoother and reducing inefficiencies.
Hoppe said the industry is becoming more unpredictable, and that better cooperation across the whole logistics chain is now necessary to keep goods moving reliably.
BARIG also confirmed it will continue representing airline interests in discussions with policymakers and industry bodies, both in Germany and abroad.
