Freight fraud and cargo theft remain one of the most pressing challenges for the transport and logistics industry, and the 2026 edition of the FreightWaves Fraud Fighters Awards has highlighted the companies leading the response with increasingly sophisticated detection and prevention systems.
This year’s winners were selected across two main groups — Logistics Operations and Solution Providers — with each organisation recognised for measurable impact in preventing identity theft, double brokering, fictitious pickups and cargo theft across complex supply chains.
Logistics Operations Winners
In the Logistics Operations category, Arrive Logistics was recognised for a large-scale fraud prevention and carrier integrity programme that moves nearly 2 million loads annually. The company reported a full-load theft ratio of just 0.0004% in the second half of 2025, representing a 60% improvement over the previous half-year. Its approach combines multi-layer carrier onboarding, third-party platform verification, and a proprietary SOC II-certified TMS, supported by a dedicated risk team with law enforcement expertise.
ITS Logistics was awarded for its layered “People + Process + Technology” fraud defence model. The company integrates platforms such as GenLogs, Highway, Carrier411 and RMIS into its own system, backed by strict operating procedures and continuous monitoring. With 99% ELD-connected carriers and 99.2% load tracking coverage, ITS reported an ultra-low 0.004% critical incident rate and said 80% of freight is handled by long-standing core carriers.
RXO was recognised for its identity-first security architecture built across brokerage and transportation services. Its system includes multi-factor authentication, AI-based carrier scoring, and behavioural monitoring to detect high-risk or “chameleon” carriers. The company says its approach has significantly reduced cargo theft exposure and improved fraud prevention across its network.
Uber Freight was also among the winners, highlighted for its integrated fraud detection system combining AI, operational monitoring and specialist investigators, including former FBI and DEA personnel. Despite an 11% rise in industry-wide fraud, Uber Freight reduced incidents in its network by 20% and cut fraud rates per 10,000 loads by 84% between 2023 and 2025, while collaborating closely with law enforcement and industry databases.
Werner Enterprises was recognised for its Secure Ratecon Protocol (Carrier Bridge), which replaces vulnerable email-based processes with secure, authenticated digital access. Since implementation, the company reports zero trailer thefts linked to compromised email accounts and full audit traceability for all transactions.
Solution Providers Winners
In the Solution Providers category, Highway was recognised for its Carrier Identity® platform, which continuously monitors carrier behaviour beyond traditional point-in-time checks. In Q1 2026 alone, it blocked over 527,000 fraudulent emails and flagged thousands of identity theft and ownership-change events, while expanding industry tools such as the Highway Freight Fraud Index and a $100,000 performance guarantee.
GenLogs Truck Intelligence was awarded for its physical-world verification system using a nationwide roadside sensor network capturing over 15 million vehicle images daily. The platform provides real-time validation of carrier activity, supporting investigations into stolen equipment and helping confirm activity for hundreds of thousands of carriers.
Descartes Systems Group was recognised for combining pre-tender verification and in-transit monitoring through MyCarrierPortal and MacroPoint FraudGuard. The system has helped surface more than 62,000 potentially fraudulent shipments and significantly reduced onboarding time while improving carrier verification accuracy.
Samsara was awarded for its Asset Tag XS, a compact Bluetooth tracking device designed to protect high-value equipment. Leveraging a large industrial connectivity network, it enables real-time asset tracking and theft recovery, with customers reporting rapid recoveries of vehicles and machinery worth millions of dollars.
Truckstop.com was also recognised for its Risk Assessment System (RAS), which evaluates carriers using billions of data points across financial, operational and digital risk indicators. Since its rollout, the system has blocked nearly 20,000 high risk entities and significantly reduced fraud incidents while accelerating carrier onboarding.
Together, these winners reflect a rapidly evolving freight security landscape where AI, identity verification, behavioural analytics and physical tracking systems are converging to counter increasingly sophisticated fraud networks.
FreightWaves said the 2026 honourees demonstrate how collaboration between technology providers and logistics operators is becoming central to protecting supply chains from persistent and evolving threats.
