GetJet Group is significantly growing its aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) operations with the construction of a new, sophisticated facility at Vilnius International Airport (VNO). The project, led by its subsidiary Airhub Aviation, represents a €25 million investment and is another milestone in the group’s long-term growth strategy.
The expansion follows Airhub Aviation’s successful bid in a land lease auction organised by Lithuanian Airports. The company has secured an 11,200 square meter site on a 40 year lease, on which it will build a modern MRO hangar, which is expected to create more than 100 new jobs once operational.
“The new facility is a key part of the company’s strategy to build a more integrated and efficient aviation group,” GetJet Group CEO Darius Viltrakis said. Building in-house MRO capabilities will increase technical independence, provide operational flexibility and allow the company to offer a broader range of services to its aviation partners around the world.
The site, which has just been leased, is adjacent to another 4,700 square meter plot already secured by GetJet Group under a long-term lease agreement. Furthermore, the company will be investing another 10 million euros between 2025 and 2029 in the construction of another maintenance hangar on this site, expanding its technical infrastructure.
GetJet Airlines CEO Inga Duglas highlighted the strategic importance of developing the group’s own maintenance facilities. She said improved control of MRO operations leads to better fleet support, better flexibility and better efficiency for both the ACMI and aviation asset management businesses. She also stressed that the ability to service the aircraft has become one of the major competitive advantages in the current aviation market. GetJet Airlines can have an aircraft in the air within 1.5 hours of a confirmed request and the company carries out over 500 ad-hoc operations every year. The capabilities, she said, have earned the airline the nickname “Task Force of Aviation.”
GetJet Group’s MRO strategy is already underway with Airhub Aviation, which has an MRO hangar at Siauliai International Airport and is developing aviation asset management services. “Only after two years of operation, the hangar is fully operational and serves internationally recognized aviation companies,” said Darius Viltrakis about the Šiauliai facility, one of the biggest MRO success stories in Northern and Eastern Europe. He said the success shows that it is possible to become one of the leading aircraft maintenance centers in the region.
GetJet Group is to create about 200 new jobs in aviation at its operations in Vilnius and Šauliu over the coming years as part of wider expansion plans. The recruitment would be for aircraft maintenance engineers, avionics specialists, technicians, engine maintenance professionals and experts in planning, quality control and logistics to ensure smooth hangar operations.
GetJet Airlines and Airhub Aviation have teamed up with 2026 Dakar Rally winner and three-time Lithuanian rally champion Vaidotas Žala to find new talent by making him an ambassador for both companies. The initiative aims to promote the links between motorsport and aviation, and to raise awareness of technical careers in the aviation industry.
The Lithuanian Airports welcomed the investment, saying it was further evidence that the infrastructure being built around Vilnius International Airport was meeting the changing needs of aviation businesses and cementing Lithuania’s position as a provider of high-value aviation services. “Such projects contribute to the development of the country’s MRO ecosystem and the competitiveness of the aviation sector in Lithuania,” said Gintarė Norvilaitė-Tautevičė, Acting CEO of Lithuanian Airports.
