North Star has secured a new set of long-term contracts covering 17 emergency response and rescue vessels (ERRVs), strengthening its role in offshore safety operations across the North Sea.
The agreements include both new awards and renewals, adding up to around 50 years of combined contract duration. They were secured through competitive tenders as well as negotiated extensions with clients.
North Star currently operates a fleet of 37 ERRVs, which provide continuous safety cover for around 50 offshore installations in the North Sea. The company says its vessels are maintained at 100% operational readiness throughout the year, ready to respond at any time.
These new contracts will secure employment for 435 seafarers, which represents roughly a quarter of North Star’s offshore workforce. They also provide longer-term stability for crews working in demanding and often high-risk offshore conditions.
In total, the company employs around 1,700 people, including offshore personnel, shore-based teams in Aberdeen and Lowestoft, and staff working from its Hamburg office.
Michael Gordon, Chief Commercial Officer at North Star, highlighted the role of the company’s crews in maintaining offshore safety every day.
“At its core, our role is to protect lives at sea. The dedication of our crews, supported by our shore-based teams, ensures we continue to meet that responsibility every day in some of the most demanding environments in the world,” he said.
