Posidonia 2026 will shine a spotlight on the next generation of maritime technology companies next week as The Captain’s Table officially unveils the finalists selected for its Maritime Innovation Demo Day in Athens.
The event, scheduled for June 3 at The Margi Hotel during Posidonia week, will bring together startups and scale-ups developing solutions across artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, vessel operations, emissions reduction and maritime financial services.
Among the companies selected is MaritimePay, which has developed a payment platform tailored specifically for the maritime industry. The solution focuses on simplifying crew payroll management and supplier disbursements on a global scale.
Another finalist, Sealenic, will present an AI-powered operational and compliance platform designed to automate workflows between ship and shore teams, reflecting the shipping sector’s growing push toward digital efficiency and smarter compliance management.
Cybersecurity and operational risk management are also taking centre stage during the showcase. Cequra has developed an edge-native platform aimed at helping operators detect cyber threats, GNSS disruptions and anomalies affecting operational technology systems onboard vessels.
Meanwhile, Sentinel Asset Protection will introduce a smart gangway barrier system designed to improve vessel security by preventing unauthorised boarding during port calls and ship operations.
The list of finalists also includes Flyability, known for its inspection drones built for industrial and maritime environments, and Methanox, which is developing catalyst technology intended to help reduce emissions from LNG-powered vessels.
Artificial intelligence remains one of the strongest themes across this year’s lineup. A-GOS is showcasing an AI-driven galley management platform focused on reducing food waste onboard ships while improving budgeting predictability for operators.
Quartermaster AI is also attracting attention with its concept of a distributed maritime sensing network that uses commercial vessels and port infrastructure as real-time sensor nodes to generate operational intelligence and live maritime data.
The startup showcase reflects the rapid acceleration of digitalisation across the shipping industry, where companies are increasingly investing in automation, cybersecurity, operational analytics and sustainability-focused technologies as part of broader fleet modernisation efforts.
With Posidonia expected to attract thousands of maritime executives, investors and technology providers to Athens, the event is likely to provide a major platform for emerging companies looking to position themselves at the centre of shipping’s next technological transformation.
