SWISS WorldCargo has taken a new step in expanding its international cargo network with the launch of a direct connection to Bengaluru, marking the company’s first destination in Southern India. The service forms part of its Winter 2026/27 schedule and strengthens its presence in one of Asia’s increasingly important logistics markets.
The first shipments were transported to Bengaluru on 27 October, officially inaugurating the new route. Located in Southern India, the city, formerly known as Bangalore, is the country’s fourth-largest urban centre and an important gateway for industrial and commercial activity.
The connection will operate five times a week throughout the winter schedule, running from late October 2026 until 27 March 2027. It adds a new destination to an Indian network that already includes daily SWISS WorldCargo flights to Mumbai and Delhi, providing regular links between Switzerland and two of the country’s major commercial centres.
Five weekly flights between Zurich and Bengaluru
The new service adds two flight numbers to cater for cargo movements in either direction. Flights from the East will operate as LX 140, departing Zurich five times per week at 13:20, arriving in Bengaluru at 02:55 the next morning.
For the return journey flight LX 141 will depart from Bengaluru at 04:50 and arrive in Zurich at 10:50 on the same day.
The service operates five times a week and provides another direct link between Europe and Southern India for freight customers, supporting the movement of goods across a range of industrial sectors.
India is still a strategic market for air cargo growth
SWISS WorldCargo regards India as a strategically important destination, given the country’s large and fast-growing economy, increasing international trade, established manufacturing base and growing demand for fast, reliable logistics services.
The enhanced connectivity through Kempegowda International Airport (BLR) is particularly important for industries that deal in specialized and time-sensitive shipments.
One key cargo segment is pharmaceuticals and healthcare products including medicines, vaccines and consignments requiring temperature controlled transport. Another important source of demand is the electronics and high-tech industries, with goods such as components, semiconductors and consumer electronics.
The extra link will also be a plus for the automotive and industrial manufacturing sectors, especially in the case of spare parts and components that need to be delivered urgently. Other important commodities are textiles and fashion products and selected perishables like fresh produce and flowers.
A new gateway for freight dedicated
The launch is in line with SWISS WorldCargo’s ambition to strengthen its position in the Indian market while providing customers with additional options for the transport of goods requiring particular handling conditions.
Alain Chisari, Head of SWISS WorldCargo, said the new direct link between Zurich and Bengaluru was an important milestone in the company’s progress in India.
He pointed out the prospect of offering cargo customers an alternative gateway for high value, special handling or temperature sensitive shipments.
“The launch of new non-stop services between Zurich and Bengaluru is a significant step in strengthening our position in India. “We are happy to provide our cargo customers with a new gateway for their high-value, care-intensive and temperature-sensitive cargo and we look forward to contributing to the success of SWISS in Southern India,” said Alain Chisari.
With Bengaluru now added to its network, SWISS WorldCargo has another connection to push trade between Switzerland and South India. The new service complements its existing daily operations to Mumbai and Delhi, and opens up further opportunities in pharmaceuticals, technology, automotive manufacturing, textiles and specialized perishable cargo.
