SEOUL, August 20, 2025 — With shipping schedules still unpredictable and congestion hitting ports from Asia to Europe, South Korean digital forwarder TRADLINX has made an unusual move: it is opening its container tracking service free of charge.
The platform, normally reserved for paying clients, now allows shippers of all sizes to see real-time updates on vessel positions, customs status, and delivery estimates. The company said the decision came after weeks of complaints from exporters unable to follow their cargo through a maze of delays.
“Visibility shouldn’t be a luxury when supply chains are this fragile,” a TRADLINX spokesperson told reporters. “We’d rather take the hit on revenue than leave small and mid-sized firms blind.”
The offer arrives at a critical time. Freight forwarders across Asia are juggling vessel re-routes triggered by tariffs and weather-related port closures. Some exporters say they are spending more time chasing updates than managing sales. Having a centralised view, even if temporary, could help ease the pressure.
Analysts see the gesture as both marketing and necessity. Giving access for free may cost TRADLINX in the short run, but it also cements the company’s position as a trusted tool at a moment when confidence in carriers is shaky. Competitors will likely be watching closely to see if the move forces them to follow.
For exporters who have spent weeks refreshing inboxes for shipping notices that never come, the change is simple but welcome: at least now, they can watch their cargo move — or stall — with their own eyes.
