Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding has signed a construction contract with Malaysia’s MISC Berhad for a second batch of large-scale LNG carriers—two firm vessels plus two options—each with a capacity of 174,000 cubic meters.
The agreement follows an earlier deal signed in January for three firm orders and three options, bringing total newbuilding commitments between the two companies to five firm vessels and five optional units.
The newly contracted ships belong to Hudong-Zhonghua’s fifth-generation “Changheng Series,” a design developed in-house and positioned as a high-efficiency, environmentally advanced LNG carrier offering strong commercial performance.
The shipyard stated that the new order consolidates its leading position in the global LNG carrier segment and provides operational stability for its production schedule throughout the year.
To date, Hudong-Zhonghua has delivered 60 large LNG carriers, transporting more than 30 million tonnes of liquefied natural gas annually.
