Quito’s Mariscal Sucre International Airport has once again secured its place at the top of South America’s regional airport rankings, marking an 11th consecutive year as the best in its category.
The recognition comes from Skytrax’s World Airport Awards, widely regarded as among the aviation industry’s most respected distinctions. In this year’s edition, Quito Airport was not only named Best Regional Airport in South America but also ranked first as the Cleanest Airport in the region.
The awards are based on a methodology combining direct passenger feedback collected through online surveys and a broader assessment of service quality and infrastructure. The process is designed to identify airports that deliver strong performance across multiple aspects of the travel experience.
For Quito, the latest recognition reinforces a long-running reputation for consistency in a competitive environment. Airport management said the result reflects a long-term focus on operational efficiency, punctuality, safety and a passenger-centred approach, combined with a sustainability strategy that includes both social and environmental priorities.
The airport also performed strongly in other categories, ranking third for Best Airport Staff in South America and fourth worldwide among airports handling between 5 million and 10 million passengers annually.
The wider airport ecosystem in Quito was also recognised, with the Wyndham Quito Airport Hotel named the Best Airport Hotel in South America.
Quiport president and chief executive Ramón Miró said the result reflects the collective effort of the entire airport community, from day-to-day operations to passenger-facing services. He added that maintaining the title for 11 consecutive years demonstrates the company’s sustained commitment to excellence in the management of Ecuador’s main airport.
Beyond the airport itself, the awards also strengthen Ecuador’s positioning as a reliable and competitive destination for international aviation and tourism.
