Liège’s air cargo community came together to celebrate another year of strong performance, as the airport continues to solidify its position as a key European cargo hub.
The awards evening marked a period of sustained growth, with cargo volumes increasing by 16%, followed by 14%, and rising again by 16% in the first quarter of 2026 — making it the strongest start to a year on record for the airport.
For Liège Airport, this performance reflects more than just traffic growth. It highlights the strength of a collaborative ecosystem built around airlines, freight forwarders, handlers and e-commerce players.
“We built this momentum together,” said CEO Laurent Jossart, emphasizing that the results were driven by partnerships, trust and coordinated decision-making across the entire cargo chain.
Looking ahead, the airport unveiled ambitious long-term plans to double its cargo capacity by 2040. The strategy is backed by investments exceeding $500 million, focusing on infrastructure upgrades, operational efficiency and deeper integration across the logistics ecosystem.
The ceremony also recognised key industry players across multiple categories:
* Newcomer on Cargoland Award: Atlas Air
* Forwarding Champion Award: Kuehne+Nagel
* Vertical Excellence Award: Network Aviation Group
* Cargo Wings Award: Ethiopian Airlines
* Ground Master Award: Swissport
Organisers highlighted that reliability, flexibility and resilience remain critical in an increasingly competitive and fast-moving sector.
Closing the event, Frederic Brun, Vice President Sales and Marketing, reinforced the collective nature of the achievement, underlining that continued collaboration will be essential to sustain growth in the years ahead.
