Embraer (NYSE: EMBJ / B3: EMBJ3) and Japan Airlines (JAL) have renewed their long-standing partnership with the signing of a multi-year agreement under Embraer’s Pool Program, to provide comprehensive maintenance, repair and spare parts support for JAL’s fleet of 32 E170 and E190 aircraft.
Under the renewed agreement, Embraer will support a wide range of repairable components for Japan Airlines’ E-Jets fleet, helping to strengthen aircraft reliability and operational continuity. The solution also provides a large inventory of components located close to the airline’s operations, enabling faster access to key parts and decreasing the likelihood of operational disruption.
Since 2008, the E-Jets have been the backbone of the Japan Airlines fleet, helping to build regional connectivity across Japan. The extension of the Pool Program agreement serves as testimony to the continued commitment of both companies to maintain high standards of operational excellence, while supporting the continued development of regional connectivity in the country.
Today, JAL’s E-Jets have an average six-month service reliability rate of 99.8 percent.
‘In renewing this contract with Embraer, we reaffirm our commitment to ensuring high quality components and above all, the absolute safety of our flight operations. “Building on our trusted relationship with Embraer we look forward to further driving operational excellence and delivering a highly reliable travel experience for our passengers,” said Yuta Kawaguchi, Executive Officer, Vise President, JAL Engineering Co. Ltd, Material & Component Services.
For Embraer, the agreement extends an existing relationship that has supported JAL’s E-Jet operations for many years.
“We are proud to further strengthen our long-standing relationship with Japan Airlines through this agreement,” said Carlos Naufel, President and CEO, Embraer Services & Support. “Through our Pool Program, we are committed to delivering the reliability, responsiveness and operational support needed to optimize the performance of the E-Jets.”
The renewed agreement also underscores Embraer’s broader commitment to the Asia Pacific (APAC) market, where the manufacturer has had a presence for nearly five decades. The first aircraft of the company began to fly in the area in 1978.
APAC is one of Embraer’s most important markets, with more than fifteen airlines operating E-Jets in seven countries across the Asia Pacific region today.
To support its growing customer base in the region, Embraer has built a comprehensive aftermarket support ecosystem to bring services closer to airline operations.
The regional network has Embraer people living close to customer bases and a Regional Distribution Center with an inventory of more than USD 120 million. The ecosystem also includes E1 and E2 simulators and authorized service centers throughout the region.
“This is a great support tool that will provide fast and reliable support for Embraer E-Jets wherever they operate in the Asia Pacific region.”
