FedEx has chosen its next chief financial officer. Jamere Jackson will join the company on November 30, succeeding Claude Russ, who has held the post on an interim basis since June 1.
From auto parts retail to parcel delivery
Jackson arrives from AutoZone, the US-based automotive parts retailer, where he became CFO in January 2021. In that role, he also oversaw the company’s store development function.
A career built across publicly listed companies
Before AutoZone, Jackson was executive vice president and CFO of Hertz Global Holdings, and earlier served as CFO of Nielsen Holdings. His path also includes several leadership positions at General Electric, among them CFO of a division of GE Oil & Gas. He currently sits on the board of directors of Eli Lilly, where he chairs the audit committee.
What FedEx expects from him
FedEx expects his experience in financial management, capital allocation and operational strategy to support its business growth. This was the theme of the welcome from Raj Subramaniam, FedEx’s president and chief executive officer:
“I am pleased to welcome Jamere to FedEx and the executive leadership team. Jamere brings a deep understanding of how disciplined financial strategy translates into strong operational performance. Throughout his career, he has proven his ability to balance strategic investments in growth with an unwavering focus on profitability, cash generation, and capital allocation. I am confident Jamere’s leadership will support FedEx’s strong momentum in driving profitable growth and help deliver long-term value for stockholders.”
Thanks to the interim CFO
Subramaniam also thanked Russ for his leadership as interim CFO and for his contributions to the company during the transition.
Jackson looks ahead
For his part, Jackson said he looked forward to joining FedEx, working with its finance team and applying his experience to support the company’s profitable growth strategy.
