Parkview Health breaks ground on $200M hospital campus in West Lafayette

The nearly 200,000-square-foot medical complex is expected to open in 2028, adding hospital services, a medical office building and around 250 health care jobs to the Greater Lafayette region.

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. Construction is officially underway on a US$200-million hospital and medical office campus in West Lafayette, Indiana, as Parkview Health moves forward with one of the region’s largest recent health care infrastructure investments.

Parkview Health broke ground on the nearly 200,000-square-foot development in late July. Located at the intersection of N. 100 W and Kalberer Road within Purdue Research Park, the project is expected to be completed in June 2028.

The new campus is designed to expand access to health care services as Tippecanoe County continues to experience population and economic growth.

“This community is expanding rapidly, and health care infrastructure needs to keep pace,” said Dr. Greg Johnson, chief physician executive of growth markets at Parkview Health. He said the new facility will bring emergency, inpatient and specialty care closer to residents.

Hospital and medical offices

The main hospital will feature up to 40 inpatient beds and a 24-hour emergency department. Plans also include surgical and procedural suites, specialty care services, advanced laboratory and diagnostic imaging facilities, as well as a range of outpatient services.

The design leaves room for future expansion, allowing the campus to increase its capacity as demand for health care services grows.

A separate medical office building will be developed alongside the hospital. It will provide primary and specialty care to residents of West Lafayette, Tippecanoe County and surrounding communities.

The project is expected to create approximately 250 clinical and non-clinical health care jobs once operational.

Supporting regional growth

Parkview first announced plans for the hospital in July 2025 after discussions with local leaders, Purdue University and the Purdue Research Foundation about the area’s changing health care needs.

The development comes as Greater Lafayette experiences increasing investment and population growth, supported in part by its relationship with Purdue University.

Local officials view improved access to health care as an important component of the region’s ability to attract businesses, workers and new residents.

West Lafayette Mayor Erin Easter said the project fits into the city’s broader strategy of preparing infrastructure for continued growth.

A new asset for Purdue Research Park

The hospital is also expected to strengthen Purdue Research Park’s wider innovation ecosystem.

Established in 1961, the research park covers approximately 725 acres and is home to Indiana’s largest concentration of technology-based companies. Its development model combines research, business activity, housing, child care and other amenities designed to attract entrepreneurs, researchers and highly skilled workers.

Chad Pittman, president and CEO of the Purdue Research Foundation, said the hospital will become an important asset for people living and working in Greater Lafayette.

The medical campus is expected to reinforce the research park’s broader live-work-play concept by adding comprehensive health services to an area already focused on technology, research and business development.

Health care access before hospital opening

Parkview plans to expand its presence in the community before the new hospital is completed.

A new primary care clinic is scheduled to open in October at 1305 Cumberland Ave., giving residents earlier access to Parkview physicians while construction of the larger medical campus continues.

With the hospital scheduled to open in 2028, the development is expected to become a major piece of West Lafayette’s health care infrastructure and support the region’s continued growth.
