Flughafen Wien Group reported improved financial results for the first half of 2026 with revenue, operating profit and net income all up compared to the same period last year.
The Austrian airport operator reported revenues of €529.3 million in the January-June period, up 0.9 per cent from €524.4 million in H1 2025.
Profitability increased to a much greater degree. EBITDA rose 7.3 per cent to €227.1 million and EBIT was up 9.1 per cent to €159.4 million. Net profit before non-controlling interests amounted to €123.2 million, up 7 percent year-on-year.
The company said the improvement was largely due to lower operating costs.
Vienna Airport sees more traffic
Aviation activity at Vienna Airport also increased in the first half of the year.
There were 107,709 air traffic movements at the airport, a rise of 4.6 per cent on the equivalent period in 2025. The average seat load factor also improved to 79.3 per cent, up 1.7 percentage points.
Cargo activity was broadly flat meanwhile. Vienna Airport recorded 154,276 tons of cargo, a slight increase of 0.2 per cent over the previous year.
The increase in cargo volumes was not as strong as the growth in flight movements, suggesting that freight activity was relatively flat in the period.
Cash flow squeeze
While profitability improved, the operating cash flow of Flughafen Wien Group fell to €147 million from €157.1 million in the first half of 2025.
“The drop was largely due to higher income tax payments and lower liabilities and provisions,” the company said.
The first half figures overall show a stronger financial performance for Flughafen Wien, supported by better cost management and a stronger aviation business. Cargo volumes at Vienna Airport remained relatively stable.
