Istanbul, Türkiye – Scan Global Logistics (SGL) has officially entered the Turkish market, launching its new office in Istanbul as part of a strategic expansion aimed at reinforcing its presence across critical global trade routes.

The Istanbul branch, now operational, offers a comprehensive suite of logistics solutions, including air, ocean, and road freight services, bolstered by in-house customs clearance and a dedicated cross-docking facility designed to streamline cargo handling and enhance delivery speed.

According to Allan Melgaard, Global CEO of Scan Global Logistics, the move reflects the company’s long-term vision of building a flexible and resilient logistics network.

“Türkiye has been part of our expansion plans, and I am happy to say we have found a strong team to drive our growth journey,” Melgaard stated. “This expansion reflects our commitment to provide unparalleled logistics solutions for our customers and allows us to tap into a vital trade hub with a strong historical legacy.”

Türkiye: A Strategic Trade Crossroads

Positioned at the convergence of Europe, Asia, and the Middle East, Türkiye represents a logistical linchpin for regional and global commerce. Its location has become increasingly relevant as companies seek alternative transport corridors to navigate current geopolitical and supply chain disruptions.

SGL’s decision to invest in the region is both strategic and timely. With its entry into Istanbul, the company gains access to a dynamic market that connects 1.5 billion consumers across three continents and plays a key role in Belt and Road Initiative corridors as well as the Middle Corridor trade route between China and Europe.

Oğuzhan Aydın, appointed to lead SGL’s growth in Türkiye, emphasized the significance of the new office:

“I am looking forward to the beginning of this chapter with a strong and skilled team that is eager to support SGL’s current and future customers with more flexible routing options, alternative transport corridors, and faster response times to global transport challenges.”

Future Growth: Beyond Istanbul

The Istanbul office marks the first phase of a broader rollout across Türkiye. SGL has confirmed plans to open additional locations in Bursa, Izmir, and Mersin later this year. These cities were selected for their industrial strength and access to major ports, supporting a diversified network for import/export operations, distribution, and multi-modal logistics.

The Turkish expansion follows SGL’s recent move into East Africa, with the opening of a new branch in Tanzania targeting infrastructure, agriculture, and mining logistics. These initiatives form part of the company’s global strategy to decentralize logistics routes, improve speed-to-market, and enhance supply chain agility in underserved but high-potential markets.

A Flexible Network for a Disrupted World

SGL’s Türkiye office is built to respond to a changing logistics landscape where speed, adaptability, and localized expertise are critical. The company aims to serve clients navigating increased customs complexity, volatility in shipping routes, and demand for multimodal freight options across the region.

By integrating local know-how with its global platform, SGL is well-positioned to provide both regional support and end-to-end international freight forwarding capabilities for industries ranging from automotive and electronics to retail and heavy manufacturing.

As global trade flows evolve, Türkiye’s growing role in the Eurasian logistics map is undeniable — and Scan Global Logistics is making a confident play to be at the center of it.
