Nippon Express has obtained a container freight station licence for its off-airport air cargo facility in Hanoi, as part of its effort to improve operational efficiency in Vietnam.
The licence was granted to Nippon Express Vietnam for its Quang Minh Logistics Center, which began operations in April at the Quang Minh Industrial Park.
To qualify for the CFS licence, the company had to demonstrate that it could handle the full range of required functions, from air cargo consolidation and packing to bonded transport procedures.
Within the logistics centre, the newly established CFS area covers 1,000 sq m and is equipped with high-rise racks, security cameras and lockable secure zones.
According to the company, air cargo loading and unloading, temporary storage of export-ready cargo, bonded transport procedures and related operations are all being managed in-house. The aim is to make cargo control more efficient and ensure smoother logistics flows for customers.
Nippon Express also highlighted the location of the facility as a key operational advantage. Because it is not situated at Hanoi Noi Bai International Airport, the company said it can avoid the cargo bottlenecks that affect the airport’s congested cargo terminal and better respond to handling demand in line with flight schedules.
By centralising cargo consolidation and bonded transport procedures, the facility is expected to reduce waiting times at airport terminals and other third-party locations. The company added that lead times can be shortened through more reliable shipment scheduling that is not disrupted by congestion.
Nippon Express also said the facility allows cargo to be collected, consolidated and then transported to the airport in bulk, making transport processes more efficient.
In addition, the company said the safety and security of air cargo have been improved through better cargo handling, in-house management, strict security measures and advanced storage systems, all of which reduce the risk of loss or damage.
